Online Course with Suzette Hosken from Jade Lady Tai Chi and Qigong
The Yi Jin Jing is a classical form of health qigong that originated in China 1,500–2,000 years ago. The name is often translated as “Muscle-Tendon Change Classic,” reflecting its emphasis on muscular and connective tissue strengthening. The form consists of a sequence of 12 postures involving stretching, twisting, flexion, and extension movements, coordinated with breathing and mental focus. Traditional lore attributes the Yi Jin Jing with improving the flow of qi (vital energy) and balancing the body’s internal functions. Modern or Western interpretations describe it as a low-to-moderate intensity mind–body exercise aimed at enhancing flexibility, strength, and overall vitality.
In this series we learn and explore the Chinese Health Qigong Association's (CHQA) version of the Yi Jin Jing. These movements are based on drawings found in a tomb, much like the Mawangdui Daoyin. The CHQA have taken all of the available historical evidence, combined that with Chinese Medicine principles and "re-created" this form.
