Online Course with Suzette Hosken from Jade Lady Tai Chi and Qigong
Discover the graceful Mawangdui Daoyin Qigong exercises in our ten-class, self-paced course. These movements are inspired by figures found on a silk painting unearthed from the Mawangdui Tombs in the 1970s. The exercises guide your body into unique and uncommon positions, beautifully preserved in the restored silk artwork.
We stretch up, down, side to side, twist and turn, and sometimes all at once. Regular practice can increase strength and flexibility, improve focus, increase circulation of blood and qi, improve balance, and much more.
Your instructor Suzette will guide you to listen to your body, explore, and adapt the movements to suit your unique needs. Some movements may look extreme on the painting but rest assured we do not need to do them like that! This set is a delight to learn and practice.
An added bonus of this series is that several times we flow through a simple qigong form that uses a short stick, or bang, as a warm up. The sticks are around 2-3cm diametre and 40-42cm in length. However students have gotten creative and used rolling pins and various other implements instead, which is just fine. You might like to make your own (buy pine dowel and sandpaper from your hardware store and ask them to cut it to size for you).
Each video is presented professionally with high definition video, quality audio and text showing each movement of focus.
Occasionally there are cats too.
